Non-runners, MOT failures & scrap
Before you scrap it, ask Carlo
Scrap merchants pay by weight. Carlo looks at the actual car. If it’s a non-runner, has failed its MOT or has been sitting on the drive for a year, send the reg and a couple of photos and you’ll get a straight answer: an offer, or an honest “it’s scrap”.
Sound familiar?
Failed its MOT
Big advisory list, corrosion, emissions — the quote to fix it is more than the car's worth.
Doesn't start or won't drive
Flat battery, dead starter, clutch gone, engine or gearbox trouble.
Accident damage
Still complete, but not something you want to repair. Tell us if it's been recorded as a write-off.
Just been sitting
Off the road for a year or two, SORN'd, and you'd rather it was gone.
Prefer WhatsApp?
Send Carlo your reg, mileage and a few photos from your camera roll. He replies on WhatsApp with the offer.
What we need from you
The registration, an honest line or two about what’s wrong, and photos of the outside, the inside and the dashboard with the ignition on if it will go that far. Collection can be arranged across Coatbridge, Airdrie, Glasgow and Lanarkshire for a car that can’t be driven; the details are agreed with Carlo once you have an offer.
What we won’t do
Pretend a car is worth more than it is, or buy one that isn’t yours to sell. We’ll ask for the V5C and ID, and if a car is genuinely end-of-life we’ll tell you and point you to an authorised treatment facility. No fees either way.
Questions
Scrap and non-runner questions
Is my car really only worth scrap?
Often not. A car with a failed MOT, a known fault or a few years of neglect can still be worth more than a scrap price to the right buyer. Send the details and photos and Carlo will tell you honestly whether he can beat scrap.
The car doesn't start or can't be driven. What then?
Tell us in the notes. If Carlo makes an offer and you accept, collection can be arranged for a car that can't be moved under its own power.
Do you scrap cars yourselves?
No — we're a car buyer, not a scrapyard. If a car genuinely is end-of-life, we'll say so and point you to an authorised treatment facility, which is the only place that can legally issue a Certificate of Destruction.
What do I need to have?
The V5C logbook, the keys and any paperwork. If the V5C is missing, tell us; it can usually be sorted but it needs to be done before the sale.
Can I keep my private plate?
Yes, but take it off the car with the DVLA before you sell, otherwise it goes with the vehicle.
